Learn Optimism Overview with Matt from Episode 88

A couple months ago, in Ep. 88, Matt mentioned a book that helped him during his recovery after falling 1000 feet down South Maroon Bell. After some of my listeners expressed interest in learning more about the book, Matt graciously agreed to create this video giving a quick, 5 minute summary overview of what Learned Optimism covers. In this video, Matt discusses optimistic and pessimistic explanatory styles, provides an example of negative internal self-talk, and how rewire your brain to think more optimistically.

I hope you enjoy!

I also highly recommend listening to Matt’s full story in Episode 88. In May of 2022, he was solo ski mountaineering just outside of Aspen Colorado when he too an 1000 foot fall from the top of South Maroon Bell. Incredibly, he survived his fall and walked away with zero injuries. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or by clicking below!
